After the detox phase is over the patients are required to attend sessions the aim of which is to make the patient realize that the way they have been drinking alcohol or using drugs is wrong and it is in their best interest to give it up. There is yoga and meditation in the mornings and breakfast is followed by the reading session where literature from books of AA/NA is read. The second session is a writing session where initially one has write about himself and then answer questions based on the 12 Steps. The writing session is followed by a lecture which we call Input, short for information put forward. In this a variety of topics is covered and information regarding the disease of alcoholism and drug addiction is imparted. Lunch is followed by rest time which is followed by Group Discussion in which whatever topic was taught in the Input, the patients relate to their own lives and share about themselves. Thrice in a week the patients write their thoughts and feelings and share about it in front of the counselor. This is followed by a mock AA/NA Meeting in the evening and dinner is again followed by meditation before bedtime. This is how the day is structured.
