Disease of Alcoholism and Addiction

The disease of alcoholism and addiction is a very nasty disease to have and I would not wish even my worst enemy to have this disease or for anyone in his or her family to be an alcoholic or an addict. I am today grateful for being an alcoholic and an addict but only because I have found a Higher Power thanks to the fact that I am an alcoholic and an addict and because I practice the Twelve Step Program.

It is a nasty disease for three reasons. Firstly, it is the only disease that denies its own existence and resists treatment. Secondly, the medical definition itself is that it is a chronic, relapsing disease. Thirdly, why the disease of alcoholism and addiction is a nasty disease is because the success rate in this disease is very less
